Alzheimer's and Dementia Care

Caring Solutions’ in-home caregivers know that your loved one living with Alzheimer’s - or any other form of dementia - is doing the best they can, and so are you. All of our caregivers are assessed for dementia skills when hired, attend a beginner dementia workshop, and receive ongoing dementia education. We host care team trainings when clients begin requiring more assistance with daily activities or if challenges arise as the disease progresses. Caregivers have access to dementia counsel one-on-one 24/7 from one of our Client Managers or Dementia trainers and coaches. The support we provide for our employees is what sets our care apart.

Online Resources

While Alzheimer's is just one form of dementia, the Alzheimer's website is full of excellent information about brain changes. It is a valuable resource if your loved one has just been diagnosed or if you have been a caregiver for years. The community that the Alzheimer's Association has built, specifically the San Antonio chapter, is a great place to meet people who can support you. Click their logo above to visit the website and learn more.

We found Careblazers on Youtube a few years ago and really enjoy sharing her videos with our caregivers in our monthly newsletter or as needed for specific situations. Dr. Natali Edmonds is a board-certified Geropsychologist and founder of Dementia Careblazers. Her website offers an array of dementia-related support for family and professional caregivers. She has a newsletter we highly recommend, you can participate in support groups, and her resource library is wonderful. Click the logo above to visit her website.

Teepa Snow is a world-renowned expert in dementia care training. Teepa Snow Approach™ methods are based on understanding what's happening in the brain and providing care that engages the parts of the brain that are still active. We train all caregivers on Teepa's GEMs and use the GEMs model to tailor the care of our clients. She has a robust website with resources, videos, and trainings. Click the logo above to visit her website, and we highly recommend her YouTube channel, also linked in her website.

STILL ALICE

Lisa Genova is a Harvard neuroscientist who wrote the novel Still Alice, a New York Times Best Seller. Later the book was adapted into an Oscar winning film starring Julianne Moore, Alec Baldwin and Kristen Stewart. The story allows us to enter the mind of someone living with dementia so we can attempt to understand what they are going through.

Free In-person Workshop

We are proud to provide dementia workshops to all of our caregivers. We see so much value in teaching the skills that can make caring for someone with dementia less challenging. That is why we decided in 2025 to begin offering our Little Bit About Dementia workshop for free to anyone interested. If you are curious about attending please click here to fill out our form to request an invitation. We look forward to hearing from you!
